Having just experienced a meaningful Epiphany Evening Prayer Service at Trinity English (thanks to our dedicated Chancel Choir members), the new year will continue to unfold with some other very special musical events. In this blog, I invite you to discover more about our March event.
My colleague, Mitch Rorick, has organized a handbell festival on March 3rd, which will provide a unique opportunity for four local handbell groups to join our own bell ensembles – a chance to grow musically and to share together in fun conversation and ringing. The culmination of the day will be a free handbell concert at 4:00 p.m. featuring the groups. The concert is open to the public so I hope you can join us!
We are honored that Timothy Waugh, from West Virginia, could be the clinician for the weekend. Tim and I have served together as clinicians for five major national church music conferences, and I have witnessed firsthand the mastery of his teaching enveloped in a fun-loving personality. It only takes a little time around this guy to understand why he is in high demand for handbell festivals, domestically and abroad. Just to give you a taste of Tim’s directing style, below are two youtube links, the first where he is guest directing a group of students; the second is Tim directing his semi-professional ensemble, Charlotte Bronze, located in Charlotte, NC.
I hope you can join us on March 3rd to enjoy the efforts of the musicians and to give Tim Waugh a warm Hoosier welcome!
