These verses remind us to get ready, to be ready for the Lord’s return.
One of the ways we get ready is to tell everyone of the coming of the Lord. Shout it from the mountain tops! Make sure they know, so they, too, can prepare for the Lord. This isn’t news we are supposed to keep to ourselves, nor news meant only for us. We are directed to tell people, to get ready, to stay attentive.
While the grass withers and fades---like all of us--- God is steadfast, loyal, and attentive to our circumstances. God doesn’t remove the challenges and obstacles in our lives but does respond with generosity---doubling every sinner’s due when they know God’s presence and repent. God will come as a comfort, a gentle presence to be with us in all our circumstances.
Since we are expected to be God’s people on earth, this must mean we are to find people in difficult circumstances and be with them. In this way, we communicate to them that God has not forgotten them and will return for them and for all of us.
