Mark your calendar! The Tenth Annual Alternative Christmas Marketplace, sponsored by Trinity’s Women of the ELCA, is Sunday, November 7, from 8:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m. in Wagenhals Hall the Gathering Area! Solve your gift-giving problems and help build a better world, too. Shop at the bazaar and give the gift of Christmas by purchasing from the wide variety of goods and ways to help others! Many volunteers are needed, so if you would like to help with the Alternative Christmas Marketplace, please contact Linda Hasecke, chairperson, at: lindahasecke@yahoo.com. Below are some examples of how your 2009 purchases and donations at the Alternative Christmas Marketplace helped our world. Please visit the 2010 Marketplace so we can provide even more relief in 2010!
- provided Lutheran World Relief with $2,355 for its cocoa farmers, emergency health kits and agricultural projects.
- $2,192.15 to ELCA’s God’s Global Barnyard for animals and tree seedlings in developing countries.
- $2,170 to the International Center for Bethlehem for year-long scholarships.
- $4,875.70 for Fair Trade food items and artisans crafts. Thanks again to Thrivent for matching funds of $1,600 that aided our efforts.
- provided three year-long scholarships so persons could participate in the Bright Stars, Azwaj, and Ajyal ministries of the International Center for Bethlehem.
